Fly fishing for pike has been close to our hearts for many decades. In this respect, it is more than logical to offer our own series of rods for pike fishing. The PIKE fly rods have a medium-fast action and a modern look. The action also makes it possible to present large, bushy pike flies at a distance using a modern pike line. In addition, the rods have enough backbone to make effective strikes when fishing for pike and huchen. The modern aluminum reel seat is robust and the EVA cork handle is non-slip even under the most adverse conditions and offers a great grip. We offer the PIKE rods in line classes #8, #9 and #10. The rods feature a premium guide ring and super hard chrome plated snake guides. The lace ring is intentionally slightly larger. It is delivered in a rod-reel combination tube made of Cordura. We also offer line classes #8 as a complete outfit. The PIKE fly rods are perfect for the ambitious pike and huchen fly fisherman.

Euro Nymph Shorty
RIO’S EURO NYMPH SHORTY is an ultra-thin, super-sensitive fly line designed for Euro nymphing. The line is deliberately made short (20 feet) so it can be added to the front end of a regular fly line utilizing the thin welded loop on each end. The idea is that anglers can fish their normal fly fishing style with their regular trout line, and when they come to a run they want to fish Euro nymph style, they simply loop the Shorty on and start nymphing. Quick, easy and no need for an extra rod or reel.
Super Backing 45 lbs (pink)
A few years ago we asked ourselves how we could make a good backing even better. After analysing the most important requirements for a backing we discovered that these were an even greater tensile strength - at a lower volume, a longer life, UV stability and very strong knot strength. We tested various materials and the breakthrough came when we combined a new braiding technique with a high performance thread. The result is the best backing that we know of. The main advantage is that even though it has a very small diameter, it has the quality to flatten out on the reel. This means no more cutting through itself! The tensile strength is 40 % higher, the diameter 35 % less than conventional backing and the fluorescent colour is easily visible. The tensile strength is 45 lbs (approx. 21 kg)! This may appear exorbitant to some Trout anglers but, even in this situation, our Super Backing does have the advantage of the fish feeling less water pressure on the line, during long runs and drills. When fly fishing for larger fish this advantage becomes even more apparent.
