Autumn Fly Fishing
Autumn is a magical time of the year for fly fishermen:
A golden September and October often mean low water levels, crystal clear water, fantastic colors on the forest trees and leaves. Autumn is also the time where the trout and grayling eat abundantly on the surface before the cold season arrives.
Such beautiful conditions are only available in autumn and every fly fisher should definitely use these ideal conditions!
The external conditions could hardly be better for a fisherman. Nonetheless, autumn fishing is often not easy as the fish have often seen many fly patterns for a long season and have become cautious.
Therefore, we would like to give you some tips for a successful fall fishing:
Basically, you should fish "fine" in the fall. This means that you should dare to go to your river with a #2, #3 or #4 fly rod.
It has been proven that the spook effect of a 2 or 3 line class is significantly lower than that of a 5 or 6 line class.
Simply put, less mass of fly line clapping on the water during the presentation is important when fishing for cautious fish.
Very gentle and fine presentations are in demand in the fall to be successful. The modern, lightweight weight-forward lines to match the light line classes offer the best setup for a gentle presentation of the flies.
In this context, we recommend long and thin leaders. 12 feet (360 cm) are okay for the beginning, but they may be even longer. Here, however, a little exercise is needed. You should also go down with the leader diameters. Dare to fish with a 0.14 or 0.12mm leader. It is important that you do not fight the fish too hard and that the action of the rod fits the leader. Then the risk of the leader snapping should be minimized. For example, the SAGE TROUT LL or SAGE DART fly rods are a great choice because of their medium fast action.

Premier Creek
Designed for anglers that fish small creeks and streams. RIO’s Creek line has been designed for anglers that fish small creeks and streams. The line loads at close range, allowing anglers to make short casts of 10 to 15 feet with ease, yet has enough body and head length for those occasions when a longer cast is needed. Each line is built on a supple coldwater core for tangle-free performance, and features SlickCast—the slickest, most durable coating on the market. In addition, the line features MaxFloat Tip Technology, RIO's proprietary tip coating formula that floats more than twice as high as regular line tips, without any increase in diameter. Length: 19,8 m (#0 - #2) / 22,8 m (#3 - #4)Colour: green/yellowOnly the WF-0-F does not have any loops because of weight issues. Fact is, the reduced coating at the narrow, tapered end of most floating lines doesn’t have enough buoyancy to stay above water. RIO’s MaxFloat Tips solves this age-old problem. Our all-new, proprietary tip coating formula floats more than twice as high as regular line tips, without any increase in diameter. That puts maximum floatation right where you need it for reduced drag, longer presentations and quieter pickups. Max CastMaxCast is a ultra-sophisticated line coating, made with a groundbreaking proprietary formula. It redefines floating line performance. MaxCast lines float higher, shoot farther, last longer and stay cleaner. AgentXTraditionally, getting a fly line to float has required mixing tiny glass balls (called microspheres) into the lines coating. After years of experimentation RIO have developed a unique element which is six times more buoyant than those used by other fly line manufacturers. This process is called „Fusion Technology”. By simultaneously processing this super-buoyant undercoating with an ultra-smooth outer coating the results are the smoothest, most durable and highest floating fly lines imaginable. Welded LoopsRIO pioneered / originated the innovative welded loop technique. Welded loop fly line tips float better and enable a rapid change of leader. Almost all RIO fly lines are supplied with these small welded loops, please see the appropriate line diagram for information.

Missing Link (red)
The Missing Link: Your Indispensable Dry FlyAn exceptionally versatile and effective dry fly that no fly box should be without. If we could only take one fly to the water, over 90% of the time, we'd choose a Missing Link. This incredibly successful dry fly, developed by Mike Mercer, has become a "secret weapon" among many fly fishers. The Missing Link is more than just a dry fly – it's a true group pattern for mayflies and caddisflies! Its outstanding effectiveness comes from its ingenious imitation of various insect stages within these crucial groups. The wings of the Missing Link are positioned to mimic the wings of dying insects resting on or just below the water's surface. This helps the fly float upright and entices even the most selective fish. The unique profile gives fish the impression of a safe and attractive meal. The Missing Link is the ideal choice when you're looking for a reliable dry fly that coaxes fish to strike in diverse situations and even under challenging conditions.
Fluorocarbon Hi-Energy Leader (9ft)
Tiemco produces the knotless tapered variation of these leaders. The advantage of fluorocarbon is that it is virtually invisible under water and it sinks into the surface. Grayling Special Leader (with Loop)
You will have noticed that longer finer leaders and light tippets are necessary when dry fly fishing for wary species, such as Grayling, on clear days. This induced us to develope the Grayling Special Leader.By precisely balancing the seperate sections of the Grayling Special we have produced a very accurate leader with excellent turn over qualities. It doesn‘t matter if you fish with small dry flies or the smallest midges, with the Grayling Special you will notice the difference. The shock absorbing section in the butt part of the leader is a cushion against breaking very fine tippets. You can of course use this leader for wary Trout as well. Emergers and weighted nymphs that do not have to be fished too deeply also pose no problem for the Grayling Special. Length: 305 cm (10 ft)Tippet diameter: 0,14 mmConnection: Loop-to-Loop The TRAUN RIVER Full Function Leaders are characterized by the following features: Extremely versatile Handmade from high quality nylon Outstanding stretching and rolling properties through progressive taping Durable and sturdy With loop connection to the flying line With integrated rip-off ring that allows quick replacement of the leader material at the tip regardless of its diameter Well balanced All braided TRAUN RIVER leaders have an elegant loop at the end for easy connection with the fly line. In addition, each of these leaders is equipped with a leader ring, or nylon loop on Dry Fly 8ft. As a result, the leader strength can be varied and the leader material can be renewed.

CDC Emerger (blue dun)
The "CDC Emerger" imitates the early emerging phase of a mayfly, the beginning of the hatching process. This process develops in the water film as soon as the ascender has broken the surface tension and ends with the emergence from the nymph skin onto the water surface. It begins with the bursting of the nymph skin on the back of the ascender. Then the front body (thorax) with the still crumpled wings and feet of the dun pushes out of the chitinous shell. In this phase, the emerger appears as a voluminous balloon from a fish's perspective. This stage, in which the emergers drift completely helplessly, signals safe prey to the fish. The pattern tied with an overemphasized thorax using the 'loop wing technique' effectively replicates this relatively short phase. In accordance with the natural models, this phase imitation is fished calmly in the current. The air trapped between the CDC (Cul de Canard) fibers gives the CDC emerger excellent buoyancy. Therefore, it can be fished without problems even in rough water. In calm currents, it is recommended to present the pattern deep in the film. It can also be easily pulled underwater and fished as an ascender just breaking the surface tension. The trapped air keeps the CDC emerger securely at the water's surface.
