Irresistible Elk Caddis (brown)
The Irresistible Elk Caddis is a tempting variation of the world-famous Elk Hair Caddis pattern, considered irresistible to trout and grayling. The tough Elk Hair provides superb, durable buoyancy and perfectly imitates the wings of an emerging or egg-laying caddisfly (Sedge). The additional "Irresistible" tying style, often featuring a palmered hackle and a special body, gives the fly a more voluminous profile and creates an extra hot spot that triggers even wary fish to rise. This fly is ideal when caddis are active or as a reliable search pattern.
CDC Traun Caddis
The Traun Caddis is a classic caddis fly version: the sedge with closed wings. This picture shows both newly hatched sedges, when they are still unable to fly, and females laying eggs. The adult sedges live for several days or weeks and return to the water from the shore vegetation when all the conditions for laying eggs are met. After mating, the females fly upstream to compensate for the downstream drift of the eggs (compensatory flight). Some species then climb into the water on the side facing away from the current, e.g. from stones, to lay their egg balls. Many sedges also lay their eggs in the open current at dusk. They run and hop conspicuously over the water surface. In between, the flies repeatedly take breaks, during which they drift downstream with their wings folded. Spawning and egg-laying always provoke a violent ascent. The tying method and material - the translucent patterned Sedge Wing wings and the CDC thorax surrounded by a few long fibers - give the MW-Caddis a deceptively realistic silhouette without reducing its usability in the slightest. The pattern can be thrown without twisting and has excellent buoyancy. This means that this CDC sedge can be offered without any problems according to the behavior of the prototypes: Turning and furrowing violently and drifting calmly in between, as “Caddis at rest”. CDC Fluttering Caddis
Wie sein Name besagt, stellt dieses Muster eine flatternde, im Auffliegen begriffene Köcherfliege dar. Eine Sedge nach dem Schlupf aus der Puppenhaut bei ihren ersten, noch unbeholfenen Startversuchen. Aber auch ein Weibchen, daß beim Laichvorgang schwirrend von der Wasseroberfläche abhebt. Beide Phasen bringen fischereiliche Höhepunkte, denn das auffällige Leben am Wasserspiegel ist ein Reiz, dem Fische selten widerstehen. Im Frühsommer schlüpfen Köcherfliegen, bedingt durch die dann günsti- geren Luft- und Wassertemperaturen, vorwiegend in den Mittagsstunden. Im Hochsommer verlagert sich die Emergenz in den frühen Morgen und vor allem in die Abend- und Nachtstunden, in denen auch Laichflug und Eiablage stattfinden. Ein guter Abendsprung ist häufig die Reaktion der Fische auf Köcherfliegen-Aktivität. Die Bindeweise der CDC-Fluttering Caddis gibt die Schwirrphase best- möglich wider. Über der markanten Körperkontur erscheint die Silhouette durch die gespreizten Rehhaar-Bunchflügel und die flach eingebundene CDC- Feder durchsichtig aufgelöst. Um den Eindruck des Flatterns zu betonen, wird das Muster immer in Bewegung gefischt. Service querüber mit gestrecktem Vorfach, dann in akzentuierten Bewegungstakten führen. Zuckend, ruckend, vibrierend und über Wasser schlitternd ist die Fluttering Caddis am wirksamsten. Zur Verbesserung der Schwimmfähigkeit sollten Flügel und Körper mit Nev-R-Sink unbenetzbar gemacht werden.
