Versatile Spey Performance for Salmon and Steelhead
The RIO Elite Anadromous Advantage combines traditional Spey castability with the versatility of modern interchangeable tips. Designed for salmon, steelhead and other anadromous species, it provides the control and power required for fishing medium to large river systems.
RIO combines an integrated body and running line with interchangeable 12 ft MDC tips. A floating 12 ft MDC tip is included with the line. Additional floating and sinking MDC tips allow you to adapt the setup to changing water levels, current speeds and fishing depths.
The result is a versatile Spey system for anglers who prefer the smooth handling of an integrated fly line while retaining the flexibility of interchangeable tips.
40+ ft Head for Controlled Spey Casting
The combined head and MDC tip measure more than 40 ft, depending on line size. RIO designed this configuration primarily for two-handed rods of 12.5 ft and longer.
The longer head provides excellent control for traditional Spey casting and makes the line an excellent choice for medium and large rivers.
Its powerful taper confidently turns over a wide range of fly sizes and leader configurations while providing the control required for long casts across broad rivers.
Interchangeable 12 ft MDC Tips
The interchangeable tip system is one of the key advantages of the Elite Anadromous Advantage.
The integrated main line connects to RIO's 12 ft MDC tips. A floating MDC tip is already included.
Changing the tip allows you to adapt the line to different fishing situations. Use a floating tip for presentations higher in the water column or select a sinking MDC tip when you need to bring the fly down to holding fish.
Colour-coded loops make matching the correct tip size quick and straightforward.
One Spey Line for Changing River Conditions
Water level, current speed and fishing depth often change throughout a day of salmon or steelhead fishing. The Elite Anadromous Advantage lets you adjust the tip instead of changing the entire fly line.
This makes it a versatile choice for covering different pools, currents and depths with one Spey setup.
The integrated body and running line also eliminate the separate shooting-head-to-running-line connection for smooth handling and uncomplicated fishing.

RIO recommends the following combinations:
#6/7 and #7/8 Anadromous Advantage lines with #7/8 MDC or Classic tips
#8/9, #9/10 and #10+ Anadromous Advantage lines with #9+ MDC or Classic tips

Euro Nymph Shorty
RIO’S EURO NYMPH SHORTY is an ultra-thin, super-sensitive fly line designed for Euro nymphing. The line is deliberately made short (20 feet) so it can be added to the front end of a regular fly line utilizing the thin welded loop on each end. The idea is that anglers can fish their normal fly fishing style with their regular trout line, and when they come to a run they want to fish Euro nymph style, they simply loop the Shorty on and start nymphing.
