Wie sein Name besagt, stellt dieses Muster eine flatternde, im Auffliegen begriffene Köcherfliege dar. Eine Sedge nach dem Schlupf aus der Puppenhaut bei ihren ersten, noch unbeholfenen Startversuchen. Aber auch ein Weibchen, daß beim Laichvorgang schwirrend von der Wasseroberfläche abhebt. Beide Phasen bringen fischereiliche Höhepunkte, denn das auffällige Leben am Wasserspiegel ist ein Reiz, dem Fische selten widerstehen. Im Frühsommer schlüpfen Köcherfliegen, bedingt durch die dann günsti- geren Luft- und Wassertemperaturen, vorwiegend in den Mittagsstunden. Im Hochsommer verlagert sich die Emergenz in den frühen Morgen und vor allem  in die Abend- und Nachtstunden, in denen auch Laichflug und Eiablage stattfinden. Ein guter Abendsprung ist häufig die Reaktion der Fische auf Köcherfliegen-Aktivität. Die Bindeweise der CDC-Fluttering Caddis gibt die Schwirrphase best- möglich wider. Über der markanten Körperkontur erscheint die Silhouette durch die gespreizten Rehhaar-Bunchflügel und die flach eingebundene CDC- Feder durchsichtig aufgelöst. Um den Eindruck des Flatterns zu betonen, wird das Muster immer in Bewegung gefischt. Service querüber mit gestrecktem Vorfach, dann in akzentuierten Bewegungstakten führen. Zuckend, ruckend, vibrierend und über Wasser schlitternd ist die Fluttering Caddis am wirksamsten. Zur Verbesserung der Schwimmfähigkeit sollten Flügel und Körper mit Nev-R-Sink unbenetzbar gemacht werden.
