They share their ideas and are always looking for further improvements. All SAGE fly rods are made by hand on Bainbridge Island (USA). Hundreds of steps are required during production and each rod passes through the hands of 23 people. SAGE fishes the same places and waters as you do. SAGE has to contend with the same tough conditions on the river, on the flat or on the coast as you do. All your experience on the water is incorporated into SAGE products - and has been for many generations.

MORE FIGHT, MORE TOUCH - The 990-4 SALT R8 as a limited "Rod of the Year 2023" Edition. Most salt rods are built for pure power and ultimate strength—that is table stakes for the venue and the discipline. With SAGEs new R8 graphite, adding 25% more strength-per-weight was the easy part—a simple function of material advancement—but one that also increased the fight in the rod even down to our six-weight. SAGE increased the pure pulling power without the need to add more material, fillers or reinforcement. The outcome is simple, providing the ability for faster landing times and reducing fish stress and catch-and-release pressure on ever so delicate ecosystems.
