The CDC Para Dun imitates a small gray mayfly. The grayish body covers many different mayflies.The swimming properties of the dry fly are extremely good due to the duck-tail hackle.

CDC Traun Caddis

Die MW-Caddis ist meine klassische Köcherfliegen-Version: die Sedge mit geschlossenen Flügeln. Solches Bild zeigen sowohl gerade geschlüpfte Auskriecher, wenn sie noch flugunfähig dem rettenden Ufer zustreben, als auch  die Weibchen bei der Eiablage. Die adulten Sedges leben mehrere Tage bzw. Wochen und kehren, wenn alle Voraussetzungen für die Eiablage gegeben sind, aus der Ufervegetation aufs Wasser zurück. Nach der Begattung fliegen die Weibchen flußauf, um den Strömungsabtrieb der Eier auszugleichen (Kompensationsflug). Manche Arten klettern dann auf der strömungsabgewandten Seite z.B. von Steinen ins Wasser um ihre Eiballen abzulegen. Viele Sedges legen in der Dämmerung ihre Eier auch auf der offenen Strömung ab. Dabei rennen und hüpfen sie auffällig über den Wasserspiegel. Zwischendurch legen die Fliegen immer wieder Ruhepausen ein, in denen sie mit zusammengefalteten Flügeln stromab treiben. Laichflug und Eiablage provozieren stets heftiges Steigen. Bindeweise und Material - die durchscheinend gemusterten Sedge Wing- Flügel und der von einigen langen Fibern umflorte, auftragende CDC-Thorax - geben der MW-Caddis eine täuschend echte Silhouette, ohne die Gebrauchstüchtigkeit im geringsten zu mindern. Das Muster läßt sich drallfrei werfen und besitzt beste Schwimmfähigkeit. So kann man diese CDC-Sedge entsprechend den Verhaltensweisen der Vorbilder problemlos anbieten: Dreggend und heftig furchend und zwischen- durch immer wieder ruhig abtreibend, als „Caddis at rest". Am wirkungsvollsten gelingt dies an langer Vorfachspitze beim Service querüber und dann stromab.
