Deutsche Traun "traditional" (From "Viadukt" to "Panzerfurt")

The "traditional" section of the Deutschen Traun is approximately 8 km below the point where the Weiße and Rote Traun flow into one another. The average size of the river is 25-30 meter. Fast flowing stony banked sections of the river alternate with slow flowing deep pools. It's in these holes that the big Trouts are holding. The average size of Trout in the Deutsche Traun is from 35-45 cm with fish of 2 kg and 55 cm being caught on a daily basis. This section of the river offers proficient fly anglers the oppertunity to catch a truly massive fish. Trout of up to 70 cm are well represented! Full grown Grayling reach proportions of up to 60 cm! For a 4 km long stretch of the river we offer a very marginal number of fishing licences on a daily basis. You can experience a perfect fishing day with dry flies, nymphs and emergers on this river!

One of the highlights of fishing the Deutsche Traun is that the pristine, very clear water enables sight fishing for extremely large Trout and Grayling with dry flies and nymphs. It's just a fabulous experience!

Fishing with jigs, streamers or bread flies is prohibited. Chest waders must be put down to waist height (hip waders and wading boots are allowed). It goes without saying that only barbless hooks (single fly hook) and fly rods are allowed. Please reserve a licence in due time! We are looking forward for yout to catching your trophy fish!

Trout - Deutsche Traun

Nature - Deutsche Traun Traditionel

Deutsche Traun "Traunstein" (From the pedestrian overpass Traunstein to Viaduct)

The Deutsche Traun "Traunstein" offers the fly caster a unique experience; in the morning on your way to the river, to the sound of church bells chiming from Traunstein, you’ll pass the locals dressed in traditional Bavarian costumes, with a smile on their faces, and little wonder, because a real upper Bavarian Dirndl is a sight to behold! Add to this the flourishing fields along the banks of the Traun and the blue and white skies of Bavaria and you know that you’ve arrived in the heart of Chiemgau!

We are issuing a limited number of fishing permits for the new Deutsche Traun "Traunstein" beat. This section is 2.5 kilometres long and connects to the lower boundary of our Deutsche Traun beat "Hochberg" at the gateway opposite the public swimming pool at the 24.8 km river marker. The end of the "Traunstein" section is the Viaduct.  Which is also the upper boundary of the Deutsche Traun "traditional". The river here is diversified and crystal clear and you can watch trout playing in the pools and eddies at the foot of the massive rock that gave Traunstein its name. This section of the river offers everything the fly fisher hopes for; deep channels, undercut banks and short rapids with boulder strewn areas. In this beautiful section of the river you’ll find Rainbow and Brown Trout up to 60cm long and once in a while large Grayling can be caught.

This is where you can catch your trophy fish on an emerger, nymph, wet or dry fly. As with all other parts of the Traun, sight fishing for your dream fish in the pristine, clear, water is a phenomenal experience and after a successful fishing day, we recommend that you relax in one of the many beer gardens in Traunstein, here you can finish a perfect, unforgettable day sitting under chestnut trees with a wonderful Bavarian beer and some local specialties.

Permits for the Deutsche Traun "Traunstein" can be purchased in our shop premises in Siegsdorf. Here you can also speak to our experts about the best tactics, flies and equipment. We are more than happy to help you. We strongly advise you to book well in advance, due to the fact that only a very limited number of permits are available on any day. The same regulations apply to this beat as on all our other rivers. We hope to see you here in the future – your trophy fish is waiting for you!

One of the highlights of fishing the Deutsche Traun is that the pristine, very clear water enables sight fishing for extremely large Trout and Grayling with dry flies and nymphs. It's just a fabulous experience!

Deutsche Traun Hochberg

Weisse Traun (From "Höpflinger Wehr" to "Spitz Au")

The Weisse Traun ...is a typical, very clear, pristine alpine river running through the foothills of the alps.
The average size of the river is 20 meters for a section approximately 5 km long. Deep pools, where large Trout lie, alternate with fast flowing sections which run out into slow flowing quieter water. A slow moving tailwater above the large weir offers plenty of oppertunity for the inexperienced fly fisher sight fishing for large, wary Trout. The average size of Trout here are between 25 - 40 cm with many larger Tout reaching 55 cm. Not often, but on a regular basis, a particularly intensive fishing trip produces a Trout of over 60 cm. The record fish for this river section was 69 cm and weighed approximately 6.0 kg! During the last few seasons Trout have been caught weighing over 4 kg.

Fishing with jigs, streamers or bread flies is prohibited. Chest waders must be put down to waist height (hip waders and wading boots are allowed). It goes without saying that only barbless hooks (single fly hook) and fly rods are allowed.
