SAGE Konnetic Technology
In 2004, Sage introduced Generation 5 Technology (G5), a breakthrough in its day that continues to be the proven platform of our top performance rod families. In our continuing effort to explore and develop new technologies, over the past several years Sage has extensively tested a wide range of construction methods and materials, including nanoparticle resin systems. We’ve concluded, as of today, that Sage’s existing proprietary resin and carbon fiber system is far superior for crafting the high performance fly rods that anglers the world over have come to rely on. However, never satisfied to merely test new technologies as they come along, Sage has developed a new, superior technology all our own. Introducing the most significant evolution in fly rod development since Generation 5. Sage’s new Konnetic technology combines proprietary aerospace-grade materials with innovative manufacturing methods and processes. The impossibly lighter rods built utilizing this technology provide ultimate line control and accuracy due to enhanced “tip-to-hand” sensitivity and feedback, yet still retain Sage’s renowned power and durability. Konnetic technology incorporates a new composite material that was developed using an optimized ratio of Sage’s proprietary resin to high modulus carbon fiber. Our Advanced Modulus Positioning System (AMPS) is a process that places the carbon materials to exacting tolerances for the greatest blank strength and efficient energy transfer throughout the shaft. Using our High Compression Molding (HCM) process, the blank’s carbon fibers are compacted for optimum density and precise alignment, simultaneously fusing the 50% lighter all-carbon fiber inner core. The result of tireless coordination between our chief rod designer, engineers and production teams, Konnetic technology was refined over years of research both in the lab and on the water stressing hundreds of prototypes. By innovating and mastering the extensive production steps required to unlock the potential of the advanced aerospace-grade materials used in Konnetic technology, Sage has created a highly responsive and robust blank with significantly enhanced torsional stability and minimal vibration for casts that track effortlessly and accurately.
